My Story
A Life of Creating
The first time I fell in love with drawing was during family trips. Free time was spent sketching scenes
of the surroundings. I continued painting and drawing, including portraits of my friends. My college arts curriculum included a rigorous program in classical drawing and painting. My love of rendering detail in a realistic style became apparent. After graduating, I worked in Chicago as an illustrator and graphic designer. In a twist of fate, after moving to the west, my career took a turn, and for many years, I enjoyed a successful career in corporate marketing and sales management. However, at night, I continued to pursue my craft through advanced painting courses at UCLA. Soon, I returned full-time to my creative passion, which included portraiture. I live in Colorado, where the majestic and diverse terrain inspires wildlife, floral, landscape and still life creations.
The visual diversity that surrounds me celebrates a universal truth, my truth,
that the constant in life is change.
My work is collected throughout the US and abroad.
"The subjects I paint are referenced from my experiences, surroundings, and close observation. From picturesque landscapes, contemplative portraits, and staged still-life, I work in layers of oil paint from thin to thick with refined brushwork to capture the beauty, gestures, and textures of the familiar in striking compositions.”
Eyes to the Soul Series
After painting a zebra's eye, I was inspired to create eight animal-eye paintings for a side-passion project. Years later the works became an assemblage titled, "Eyes to the Soul."
