Inspired by my love of rendering the ocean, I created an encaustic abstract that illustrates the movement of waves and ripples. As opposed to blues and greens, this "ocean" is layered with complementary colors, green and red transported over a bottom of curved shapes. The work is embellished with embossed dark red and raised gold "plankton" dots.
Encaustic paintings are created by melting beeswax with resin and color pigments. This technique is a sequence of quick applications using tools to make a unique creation by manipulating forms and layers. The finished beauty and uniqueness of these pieces are in the 3-dimensional abstractions and flowing, shapely movements.
