Kites are reminiscent of innocence, happiness, and freedom. In this encaustic artwork (melted wax with acrylic paint), Peace, Love, and Hearts are carved into the wax to convey the embossed artistic message that this piece is about. I made the hearts float like kites, trailing 3-D tails of connected dots that seem to propel them, dancing gently.
Encaustic paintings are created by melting beeswax with resin and color pigments. This technique is a sequence of quick applications using tools to make a unique creation by manipulating forms and layers. The finished beauty and uniqueness of these pieces are in the 3-dimensional abstractions and flowing, shapely movements.
