This year, for my Love/Valentine’s special project, I used Prismacolor soft core colored pencils with Acrylic highlights to celebrate the intricate designs of color and overlapping rows that give each butterfly its unique beauty.

The Mexican Bluewing ranges from Mexico south through Central America and Columbia and, on occasion, is seen in the lower Rio Grande Valley of Texas. Its underside is brown and black, simulating a dead leaf. The Bluewing butterfly loves to feast on rotting fruit.

This one-of-a-kind artistic depiction of a winged beauty will brighten any space.
