This work features the air-feeding, delicate, hanging Spanish moss, a plant life that clings to tree branches without roots. It provides nesting or resting material for bats, birds, and butterflies. The stems tangle with other plants for added stability, using their tiny hair-like scales to cling onto branches. Spanish moss symbolizes the mystery and the eerily beautiful creations of the American South.
Majestic and mythical, trees are ancient living organisms revered by many cultures for their symbolism, such as physical and spiritual nourishment, transformation and liberation, unity, and fertility.
