These adorable resale-found salt and pepper shakers were perfect fodder for a staged still life. I arranged them in a familiar environment, the tiled kitchen counter. Each shaker, donning whimsical smiles, holds a fish—one by the tail and one by the head, one light-colored for salt, one darker-colored for pepper—such a cute pair. The artwork sides are painted as a continuous surface, giving the piece the feel of a single piece of tile.
