Tchotchke Series
This sweet figurine from a thrift shop, part of my Tchotchke series, inspired this painting’s scene: a wishful, dreamy, moment full of childhood imagination and magic. Originally a pixie with pointed ears and no wings, I transformed her into a sparkling fairy, adding soft wings with a starlit night to capture her in reflective stargazing.

Found collectibles, once valued for their display decor, have brand-new legacies as artistic expressions on canvas.

○ Hand-stretched, oil on linen with a satin. The 1.5-inch sides are also painted the background color, including the stars, giving the piece a boxed-gift feel. Titled and signed CAO on the back.
